Today's offering showcases this very cool c. 1969 Omega Seamaster. This reference is especially interesting because it was normally branded as a Seamaster 600, occasionally as a Geneve. However a few were double signed as a Seamaster Geneve. While Geneve signed examples are seen much less often than Seamaster signed examples, double signed versions like this one are seldom found.
Powering the watch is Omega's top-tier caliber 565 movement used in Seamasters from the era, and one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs. It has 24 jewels and is one of the finest mass-produced automatic movements from era.
It measures approximately 35mm in diameter without the crown, in between the size of a Rolex Date and a Rolex Datejust.
It is 100% Omega down to the dial, hands, winding crown, and even the Omega signed crystal!
The case presents as beautiful condition. The rare dial is original and untouched. It has warmed to a sepia tone, giving it a true vintage look. And the desirable original Omega "beads of rice" bracelet presents beautifully and is scratch-free.
1950's and 60's Seamasters are great buys as parts are readily available for their well-made movements, and they're not hard to service.
Our watchmaker has freshly cleaned and oiled it, disassembling it down to its last screw making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to the watch's performance.
The Seamaster:
Omega is perhaps best known by watch connoisseurs for its Seamaster line of dive watches. Introduced in 1948, they have been were embraced by water sports enthusiasts and often marry a striking look with a high performance movement.
