Today's offering showcases this large retro Seamaster Memomatic in gorgeous condition.
Unlike all other alarm wristwatches at the time which required the alarm to be re-wound by hand after every use, Omega's Memomatic possessed a self-winding alarm. A significant step forward, it made it easier to go through a series of appointments.
Not only was the watch the first of its time to feature a self-winding alarm, it also was the world's first watch that allowed the alarm to be set to the exact minute. If you've ever had a vintage alarm you know what a much needed advancement it was as setting previous alarms was an approximation at best.
It has fully Omega parts down to the original Omega signed crystal! Its Omega hands are from the style of another Memomatic.
It presents in gorgeous condition. The case is just short of perfect mint with only very light signs of previous polishing and the slightest bit of remnants of wear to the back. On the wrist it presents as gorgeous mint.
Its striking gray, black and orange untouched original dial is mint with nicely toned luminous. While we are selling the watch on a classic black genuine Teju skin band, it could also be paired well with a gray or orange strap for a more fashion forward style.
Our Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the Memomatic which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value). It is keeping accurate time.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a copy of the model's instruction booklet and service manual.
Please note: A published example of the watch can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 293.
