In 2014 Omega released a re-edition of this watch to pay homage.

Omega Speedmaster Mark II:
The Speedmaster Professional Mark II was introduced in 1969 and was the successor to the moon watch and marks the first departure from the main moonwatch line to have been made available to the general public.

While it is not known whether Omega intended this watch to become the new moon watch, Omega's US Agent and Sales Manager paid a visit to the NASA in Houston and proposed the Mark II as an alternative to the already in use and most appreciated "moon watches".

For the first time in the Speedmaster line, the watch uses a flat mineral crystal with the timing scale printed on the inside. This watch is published on pages 52-53 of “The Master of Omega”.
