The Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000 showcased in today's offering is a classic retro example of one of these watches. At a time when the quartz revolution was taking place this watch with automatic Cal. 1022 movement carried on both the style and mechanical functionality of a traditional Seamaster.
Cosmic 2000 watches were large for the era, measuring 38mm in diameter. They fit in well with today's larger look.
This is an early double quick-setting day date Omega watch. Omega created the 1020 series movement with a double quick-set capability for convenient setting of the day and date. Although the idea of the double quick-set watch is most associated with Rolex, which first offered the President model with this "new" feature in late 1990, Omega's 1020 series mechanisms were a pioneer of the technology in large scale production watches.
But what stands out most about this example is its incredible condition. It presents in true expertly restored condition. The dial has been meticulously refinished - the printing could pass as Omega factory done.
Despite what the photos seem to suggest, the Seamoster logo is still intact and fully visible with the naked eye, although parts of it are light.
The movemeent has been recently cleaned and oiled and is keeping very accurate time.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
A five decade old Omega that presents on the wrist essentially like new!
