Today's offering showcases this large retro Seamaster Memomatic in gorgeous condition. On the wrist it presents like new-old-stock.
Unlike all other alarm wristwatches at the time which required the alarm to be re-wound by hand after every use, Omega's Memomatic possessed a self-winding alarm. A significant step forward, it made it easier to go through a series of appointments.
Not only was the watch the first of its time to feature a self-winding alarm, it also was the world's first watch that allowed the alarm to be set to the exact minute. If you've ever had a vintage alarm you know what a much needed advancement it was as setting previous alarms was an approximation at best.
It has all of its original parts down to its signed crystal.
It presents in gorgeous condition. The case presents as just short of perfect mint. The back has very light signs of previous polishing and the slightest bit of remnants of wear to the back. On the wrist, it presents as gorgeous mint.
Its striking two-tone blue and silver untouched original dial is mint.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Omega parts, installing a new correct Omega mainspring, and reassembling and lubricating the movement (a $995 value).
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a copy of the model's instruction booklet and service manual.
Please note: A published example of a similar watch can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 293.
