Around the 1970's Omega commissioned a number of leading designers to create very retro styled watches. Many of the watches we've seen have a certain elegance, but some also pushed the design envelope of the times.
Made for less than three years, the uncommon and really cool wristwatch featured in today's offering is as a fabulously original example of one of these a 70's retro Omega dress watch.
It features a large somewhat TV shaped case with big hoods, a classic silver dial, and a high-grade automatic Omega movement tucked inside the chunky case with water-resistant style screw back.
Measuring a large-for-the-era 37mm in diameter by 44mm long lug tip to tip, it is pleasingly larger than most vintage watches.
Powering the watch is Omega's automatic caliber 1012 engine found in Seamasters and other models from the era. It has 23 jewels, seven more than most Omega's from the era.
It is all original down to its original signed Omega crystal! It presents as a 9.5 out of 10.
Its case presents as just short of perfect mint. It has some aging hidden inside the engine bay and very slight remnants of wear visible around the outer edge of the bay. On the wrist, it presents as gorgeous mint.
Its dial is original and untouched, in mint condition. Its luminous has lightly toned nicely.
Its movement has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is keeping accurate time.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new leather strap and aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
Note: The watch's page on the Omega website can be found here.
A more than half-century old all-original Omega that looks like new on the wrist!

Omega Geneve:
Beginning in 1953 Omega placed the name Geneve on the dials of some of the members of the 30mm collection which at the time were produced in the company's workshops in Geneve (to put Geneve on a dial of a watch certain components and processes must take place in Geneve). According to Omega the name referred to to the Genevan Observatory where the early 30mm calibers set a number of records.
