Today's offering showcases this gorgeously restored example of one of Omega's classic vintage gent's Geneve watches. It has a water-resistant style case with screw back, gorgeous chocolate brown dial that shifts tone depending on the angle of the light, and quick-setting date.
The dial isn't a vignette by the classic definition - rather than having a lighter center and darker outer area, all areas of the dial shift tone as the light changes. It's stunning, and we prefer it to a true vignette. Our photos couldn't do it justice.
It is fully Omega down to the original hands and signed winding crown. It presents in true expertly restored condition.
The case is just short of perfect mint. It has light remnants of wear to the case back and the Omega logo is still strong. On the wrist it presents as mint. The original Omega dial is a meticulous custom restoration - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.
A Master Watchmaker has just overhauled the movement. For the finishing touch a new leather strap has been installed making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
An four and a half decade old Omega that presents on the wrist like new.
Omega Geneve:
Omega watches can be found on the wrists of many prominent figures including Pierce Brosnan, Michael Schumacher, Michael Phelps, Ernie Els, Prince William, and one graced the wrist of President John F. Kennedy. Omega has been the official timekeeper for 21 Olympic Games and is the official chronometer of NASA.
Beginning in 1953 Omega placed the name Geneve on the dials of some of the members of the 30mm collection which at the time were produced in the company's workshops in Geneve (to put Geneve on a dial of a watch certain components and processes must take place in Geneve). According to Omega the name referred to to the Genevan Observatory where the early 30mm calibers set a number of records. They later expanded the use of the model name to other watches like this one.
