Today's offering showcases this vintage Seamaster that presents in gorgeous original condition. It has a classic retro design with tonneau shape and striking two-tone dial with "wide boy" markers. Our photos couldn't begin to do it justice!
Powering the watch is Omega's top-tier caliber 565 movement, the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs. With 24 jewels and a quick-setting date, it was the top tier offering of the famous 500 series and is one of the finest mass-produced automatic movements from the era.
It measures approximately 35mm in diameter without the crown, in between the size of a Rolex Date and a Rolex Datejust.
It has an Omega monocoque - or one-piece - case, which when new achieved high water resistance ratings by not having a separate case back.
What is most striking about the watch is its stunning original condition. It is fully Omega down to the dial, hands, and Omega crown.
Its untouched original silver and dark navy blue dial - so dark it nearly appears black - is mint.
Its case presents as just short of perfect mint. It has very slight remnants of wear to the back from the buckle contacting it. The back is in excellent condition and the wording strong despite what the photos seem to suggest. On the wrist it presents as perfect mint.
A Master Watchmaker has freshly fully overhauled the movement which is keeping time.
1950's and 60's Seamasters that feature 500 series movements are excellent buys today because of their quality and relative ease and reasonable cost for servicing.
For the finishing touch a new calfskin leather strap has been installed making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
An original more than five decade old Omega that presents on the wrist like new!
