Owned & Used by Janet Jackson - Art Deco Desk Alarm Clock with COA

Art Deco

Item No. 9315

Today's offering showcases this very cool Art Deco desk clock with alarm owned and used by legendary performer Janet Jackson.

It has a very lovely Art Deco design and fabulous chrome-plated case and integrated pedestal.

Its dial has Breguet markers and antiqued finish. Powering it is a handwound mechanical movement.

It is in all-original condition. We have not polished it or done anything to the outside of it...we left it just as Ms. Jackson last used it. The only overhauling we did was to the inside of the watch to make it ready for immediate enjoyment.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, polishing the pivot, tightening the hands, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation making it ready for immediate enjoyment (a $595 value). It came to us missing a few minor (non-significant) exterior screws on the back and pedestal, and we have left it that way.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

Also accompanying it is a print off of a Certificate of Authenticity and Provenance from a well-known auction house.

Janet Jackson: A Legacy of Music and Resilience:

Janet Jackson is a versatile American artist renowned for her contributions as a singer, songwriter, actress, and dancer. Her career is marked by innovation, a commitment to addressing social issues, and captivating stage performances.

As the youngest of the Jackson family's ten children, born in 1966, she made her debut on the grand stage of the MGM Grand. Her early years saw her starring in the television series "The Jacksons" in 1976 and making appearances on popular shows like "Good Times," "Diff'rent Strokes," and "Fame" during the 1970s and early 1980s.

In 1982, she signed a recording contract with A&M Records, setting the stage for her rise to pop icon status. Her third and fourth studio albums, "Control" (1986) and "Rhythm Nation 1814" (1989), marked turning points in her career. Collaborations with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis infused her music with elements of rhythm and blues, funk, disco, rap, and industrial beats, leading to crossover success in the mainstream music scene.

In 1991, Jackson signed the first of two record-breaking multimillion-dollar contracts with Virgin Records, establishing her as one of the highest-paid artists in the industry. Her venture into film with a lead role in "Poetic Justice" (1993) added another dimension to her career.

Her subsequent studio albums, "Janet" (1993) and "The Velvet Rope" (1997), saw her evolve into a public symbol of sensuality. These records, complemented by provocative music videos and electrifying live performances, earned her recognition as one of the world's most captivating entertainers, drawing both acclaim and controversy.

Despite the challenges stemming from the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show controversy and industry backlash, Janet Jackson displayed resilience. After parting ways with Virgin Records, she released her tenth studio album, "Discipline" (2008), under Island Records. In 2015, she joined forces with BMG Rights Management to launch her own record label, Rhythm Nation, and released her eleventh studio album, "Unbreakable," that same year. Her journey as an independent artist continues to this day.

Janet Jackson's impact on the music industry is unquestionable. With over 100 million records sold, her catalog includes chart-toppers like "Nasty," "Rhythm Nation," "That's the Way Love Goes," "Together Again," and "All for You." She holds a remarkable record for the most consecutive top-ten entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart by a female artist, with 18 consecutive hits. Furthermore, her album "Rhythm Nation 1814" made history by spawning seven commercial singles that peaked within the top five positions on the chart.

Billboard recognized her influence by ranking her as number seven on its list of the Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists in 2008. In 2010, she secured the fifth spot among the "Top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists of the Past 25 Years." In December 2016, the magazine crowned her as the second most successful dance club artist after Madonna.

Janet Jackson's illustrious career has earned her numerous accolades, including five Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, eleven American Music Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and eight Guinness World Records entries. In 2019, she achieved the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Janet Jackson's enduring impact on music, her fearless approach to artistry, and her commitment to addressing social issues through her work have solidified her as a true icon in the entertainment industry.
