Geneva Elite

Item No. 9042

Today's offering showcases this lovely Swiss wristwatch owned and worn by Betty White, Television Hall of Fame member and holder of the longest TV career by a female entertainer of all time.

It features a wonderful, hinged green leather bracelet attached to the rectangular Geneva Elite watch. Its dial is made from white mother of pearl.

Powering the watch is a quartz movement that never needs to be wound.

We have not polished the watch or done anything to the outside of it...we left it just as Ms. White used it, with plenty of dirt and signs of use.

The only overhauling we did was having one of our Master Watchmakers install a new battery to make it ready immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function.

Accompanying it is a Certificate of Authenticity and Provenance from a well-known auction house and a Certificate of Authenticity from Connoisseur of Time.

Illuminating the Stage and Screen: The Enduring Legacy of Betty White

Betty Marion White was a luminary of the American entertainment industry, whose extraordinary career spanned an awe-inspiring seven decades. Renowned as a pioneering actress and comedian, she captivated audiences with her unparalleled talent, leaving an indelible mark on the realms of television, film, and radio.

Her remarkable journey was recognized with numerous accolades throughout her career. She garnered seven Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and even a Grammy Award. Her enduring influence was further celebrated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and her induction into the Television Hall of Fame in 1995.

Throughout her illustrious journey, Betty White blazed a trail as one of the first icons of early television. She graced the small screen in a multitude of roles, enchanting viewers with her unmatched versatility. From her portrayal of Sue Ann Nivens in the CBS sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1973-1977) to her unforgettable embodiment of Rose Nylund in the NBC sitcom The Golden Girls (1985-1992), White breathed life into beloved characters that will forever be etched in the annals of television history.

Not content with simply acting, Betty White shattered glass ceilings and redefined norms as a trailblazing woman in the entertainment industry. Her groundbreaking achievement as the producer and star of the groundbreaking series Life with Elizabeth (1953-1955) made her the first woman to produce a sitcom, cementing her place as a true pioneer of her craft.

Game shows became a stage where her effervescent personality truly shone. As a celebrated panelist on popular American game shows like Password, Match Game, and The Hollywood Squares, she became affectionately known as "the first lady of game shows." In 1983, her exceptional talent and wit earned her the distinction of becoming the first woman to receive the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host, for her work on the show Just Men!

Betty White's success extended beyond the realm of sitcoms and game shows. Her guest and recurring appearances on iconic programs such as The Carol Burnett Show, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Boston Legal showcased her exceptional range as an actress, earning her widespread acclaim and adoration from fans around the world.

While her contributions to television are legendary, Betty White's star continued to rise in the silver screen landscape. Her late-career resurgence was punctuated by her entertaining performance in the romantic comedy film The Proposal (2009), which endeared her to a new generation of moviegoers. Additionally, her hosting of Saturday Night Live in 2010 not only showcased her comedic genius but also earned her a well-deserved Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.

Betty White's unparalleled dedication and remarkable achievements earned her two Guinness World Records for the longest TV career by a female entertainer in 2014 and 2018, a testament to her unparalleled staying power in the ever-evolving landscape of the entertainment industry.

Besides her acting, White is well-known for her tireless advocacy for animal welfare and her deep love for her late husband Allen Ludden who preceded her in death by over forty years. Once during an interview on Larry King Live, he asked asked her why she never remarried after Ludden's death. She replied, "Once you've had the best, who needs the rest?" And when asked by James Lipton on Inside the Actors Studio what she would like God to say to her if Heaven exists, she replied, "Come on in, Betty. Here's Allen."

As we reflect upon the extraordinary life and career of Betty White, we are reminded of her remarkable ability to captivate and inspire across generations. Her timeless talent, infectious charm, and unwavering commitment to her craft have left an indelible legacy that will continue to illuminate the stage and screen for generations to come.
