Item No. 9963
$ 7,795.00
Today's offering showcases this classic and handsome ref. 2453 Patek Philippe mens dress watch with beautiful multifaceted lugs.
Featuring a timeless face, it showcases a sophisticated and elegant vintage style. It has warmed to a sepia tone, giving it a true vintage look.
While not a large watch it is larger than a number of other dress Pateks from the era - it has a diameter of 33.5mm and its striking lugs make it 44mm long lug tip to tip.
Equipped with an illustrious Patek Philippe 10 ligne movement, unquestionably among the finest hand-winding movements ever built, it possesses all the necessary capabilities to earn it its place as one the finest timepieces in the world. It is truly gorgeous to behold.
This example was retailed by Casa Welsch out of Lima, Peru and has the remnants of a desirable double-signed dial. G. Welsch, established in 1858 and specializing in luxury watches and jewelry, served as a Patek dealer Peru's most exclusive retailer. It was the Peruvian subsidiary of the German company GEO EHNI & Co.
The rare "Casa Welsch S.A. Lima" signature on the dial is the icing on the cake for collectors of the finest wristwatch. The Welsch name does not adorn many Pateks, but it can be found on important Patek chronographs like the esteemed ref. 1463. The signature is ghosted - the enamel printing appears to have had someone previously try to remove it, but it is visible under scrutiny.
Its elegant Patek Philippe case is in beautiful condition - it has only light signs of any previous polishing and one lug has been very discretely previously reinforced. It is very difficult to discern without magnification. It retains a crisp hallmark on the top left lug.
Its dial is original and untouched. Please inquire if you would like it restored.
A Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch. It is running strong and true, keeping time nearly on par with a new Patek in our testing position.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Like always, included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
Please inquire if you would like us to obtain an Extract from the Patek Philippe archives for you. Patek charges 500CHF to provide one.
