Owned by Siegfried & Roy - 1970's Piaget Vintage Mens Automatic Watch with Award Winning 12P Movement - 18K Gold

Piaget

Item No. 8973

Today's offering showcases this exclusive mens Piaget watch crafted from 18K gold and owned and worn by Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn, the greatest magician duo of all time.

Built when Piaget was still a family owned and run company creating only a relatively small number of high grade watches, it is both ultra-luxurious and very fine. As one of the world's leader in "haute couture" watches, Piaget's clients include kings and queens, princes and princesses, and Hollywood actors. Many of their inspired designs blur the distinction between watches and jewelry.

Made from 18K gold, it is pleasingly and surprisingly heavy with a substantial weight to it. It stands out as extremely luxurious even to the casual observer. The watch is a true statement piece.

While we assume the watch was most likely purchased from a Piaget boutique, our extensive research could not turn up a single other example, so it is possible that it is unique and was custom made by Piaget for them.

Its relatively thin case repeats the decoration from the bracelet and not only possesses elegance and class, it also serves as a fitting housing for one of the thinnest movements ever made, Piaget's award-winning 12P series high grade automatic movement. It is one of the most refined and reliable mechanisms on the supreme level of "extra slim" superior watchmaking.

Launched in 1960, Piaget's 12P movement was the thinnest automatic movement in the world of its time: a mere 2.3 mm thick! Though only about as thick as a US half-dollar, it sacrifices nothing in performance. The thinness of its automatic engine was achieved by the use of 24 carat gold microrotor set down into the movement. We love these watches for their technical innovation, relative uncommonness, superior finished movement, and understated design.

One of the coolest things about this watch is its level of wear. This wasn't a "safe queen" - it was enjoyed by one or both of the duo. While it's still in pleasing condition, it was clearly worn many times. Think of the red carpets and special events this watch to part in!

We have not polished the watch or done anything to the outside of it...we left it just as Siegfried & Roy last used it. The only overhauling we did was to the inside of the watch to make it ready for immediate enjoyment.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, fully serviced it, which consisted of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new internal mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).

It is keeping very accurate time. Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement.

Accompanying it is a Certificate of Authenticity and Provenance from a well-known auction house and a Certificate of Authenticity from Connoisseur of Time.

The current price of a brand new similar 18K mens gold Piaget on a bracelet is approx. $45,000.00 USD + tax. Don't miss the chance to own this gem worn by the world's most famous magician duo for a fraction of that.

We will be listing several of the famous duo's watches. Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to own one.

Siegfried & Roy - Masters of the Impossible
From humble beginnings in war-torn Germany to international fame and a record-setting run at The Mirage in Las Vegas, Siegfried & Roy were entertainers and personalities that will never be replaced.

At the peak of their particular and possibly extinct brand of celebrity, Siegfried & Roy were arguably the most famous magicians since Houdini.

The combination of Siegfried's mastery of illusions with Roy's natural rapport with exotic animals created a 50-year performance partnership that set unparalleled attendance and box office records. Along with their extensive animal family – more than 75 white tigers, white lions, leopards, jaguars, and cheetahs and more – Siegfried & Roy became famous worldwide.

From February 1, 1990, until Roy Horn's career-ending injury on his birthday on October 3, 2003, the duo formed Siegfried & Roy at the Mirage Resort and Casino, which was regarded as the most-visited show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In recognition of their talents, Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn received the Las Vegas Entertainment Award for the Best Show Act in 1972; the Magicians of the Year Award from the Academy of Magical Arts in 1976 and they were honored with the Magicians of the Century Award in 2000.

The duo also dedicated their lives to the worldwide conservation of highly endangered species. They have served as Chairmen and remain active supporters of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's Save the Tiger Fund. This fund has educated millions of people to the plight and importance of saving imperiled tiger populations and it has raised millions of dollars to protect critical tiger habitat, stop poaching activities and establish effective conservation strategies in a number of range states. Due to their leadership, the number of white tigers in the world has dramatically increased to nearly 200 and there are now 23 rare white lions.
