1923 Rolex Ladies Vintage Art Nouveau Watch - 18K Gold

Rolex

Item No. 7094

While busy developing their Oyster case, Rolex also crafted lady's pieces to meet the needs of their wealthy female clients. The fine wristwatch featured in this offering is an example of one of these very early Lady Rolex timepieces. Rolex was one of the pioneers of the wrist-worn watch.

It has a pleasingly styled Art Nouveau case with engraved sides which is complemented by the wonderful silver face decorated with sunburst guilloche Roman numerals. The case bears London hallmarks. While most cases made for the U.K. market were made in 9K, this top-tier example was made in 18K gold.

Its blue steel hands have a deep rich blue color especially noticeable at certain angles.

Powering this gem is a fine, early Rolex "Rebberg" timekeeping mechanism. The finish on the outwardly presenting gears (ratchet wheel) presents in shockingly good condition. Photos of the inside available upon request.

Its case is in near mint condition with several pin prick indentions in the soft 18K gold back as is most often the case. The detail on the engraving on the side is still very fine. On the wrist it presents beautifully.

Its dial, refinished long ago in vintage times, has the look of an original and with fairly light aging.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new correct mainspring and set bridge, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value).

These watches are known for not operating especially well because of their age, but this one, which we have also timed on a machine that spins it in all directions simulating it being worn on the wrist, is keeping very acceptable time. Kindly note that on occasion there can be just a very slight click when winding, though often none at all.

For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
