For a true Rolex Connoisseur...a very rare and all-original Rolex Prince Imperial pocket watch in 18K white gold.
Without question the most iconic Art Deco Rolex is the Prince, universally celebrated for its unsurpassed quality and elegant style. Appropriately named, it was the perfect accompaniment for prominent doctor's, business financiers, or any man with discriminating personal taste in timepieces.
Featuring stylish cases, duo dial faces, and an ultra-high quality mechanism, in many ways these incredible wristwatches set the standard of the day for refinement and accuracy in dress watches.
Today's offering showcases this special Rolex Prince Imperial watch - a very fine and all-original example of a rare version of one of these watches. Here are a few of the features that make this watch so special:
* Ref. 1586, a very rare pocket watch member of the celebrated Rolex Prince family of watches
* Mechanism officially tested and certified by Swiss government observatory scientists. Movements had to achieve "Super-Excellent" rating throughout the rigorous trials to receive this recognition. The ratchet wheel is marked "Rolex Observatory"
* Better quality movement design featuring an oversized winding barrel and balance wheel. By placing these two mechanisms at opposite ends of the movement the watch achieves incredible levels of accuracy and carries a longer power reserve, enabling it to run longer and more accurately on each wind
* Extremely elegant, 18K gold case which makes it appropriate for both casual and dress wear
* Larger, peripheral seconds dial insures the hour and minute hands never obstruct the view of the seconds. These were often referred to as "doctor's watches" because their large seconds dial was useful for timing when taking a patient's pulse.
* Striking "double bow tie" dial with bi-color decoration on both the hour / minute and the seconds dials.
We were fortunate to acquire it with all of its original parts
Its beautiful six-sided case is in excellent condition. The back shows only light wear and light rippling. Face up it presents beautifully.
Its iconic, duo-dial Prince face is original and untouched.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new and correct mainspring, polishing the pivots, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $895 value).
It is keeping time on par with a new Rolex in our testing recording position.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
This is a rare opportunity to own an exciting historic timepiece most often found only in New York and Geneve offering houses and museums of timekeeping.
