1950's Rolex Precision Vintage Mens Midsize Dress Watch - 9K Gold

Rolex

Item No. 9489

In the 1930's through the 50's, in the midst of their high output of utilitarian Oyser sports watches, Rolex also made much more elegant dress watches. These fine wristwatches often combine a superior hand-wound mechanism with beautiful aesthetics.

The elegant and uncommon dress Rolex Precision showcased in today's offering is a prime Connoisseur of Time Certified Pre-Owned example of this phenomenon. It features very fine and dramatic styling and a well-executed handwound movement.

Originally intended for men, by today's standards it is a midsize watch, well-suited for someone who does not have large wrists.

Made for the English market by Dennison, Rolex's English contract case maker, the case features lugs that are more avant garde than one usually finds on English market watches from the era. And the markers have a distinctively vintage style.

It has a less common sweep seconds function and technical dial with 1/5 markings that served the needs of men in technical, sporting, and racing fields. We really like the combination on the watch - its pleasing blends a distinctive dress style with high performance.

But what is most striking about the watch is its incredible restored condition.

It is fully Rolex down to the signed crown. It has just finished a true expertly done restoration - it presents in gorgeous condition.

Its case presents as mint with fairly light signs of previous polishing. Its dial has been meticulously refinished - the printing could pass as Rolex factory done to the naked eye.

As part of the restoration, its movement has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker (a $695 value). It continues to run very strong and true, keeping time nearly on par with a new Rolex in our testing recording position.

For the finishing touch, it has been equipped with a brand new calfskin leather strap and aftermarket Rolex style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Don't miss the opportunity to own the perfect small-sized complement to your sporty Datejust, Sub, GMT, or Daytona.
