1952 Rolex Oysterdate Vintage Mens Ref. 6094 Handwound Red Date Watch - Stainless Steel

Rolex

Item No. 9325

One of the desirable non-sport vintage Rolex watches right now is the Oysterdate Precision. It's a watch that is perfectly at home being worn everyday or only for special occasions. Produced from the early-1950's into the 1980's, it was a strong commercial success for Rolex, winning a large following.

Part of its current appeal is that with the ever-increasing prices of vintage Rolexes, they are among the more affordable options yet still have a date.

Today's offering showcases this uncommon Certified Pre-Owned ref. 6094 mens Rolex Oysterdate with red date.

The 6094 served as one of the early predecessors to the more commonly seen 6694. A stylish watch, it features a more mid-century look than some of the subsequent Oysterdates.

This 6094 has three distinctive features not found on most Rolexes. It is one of the relatively few Rolex models to feature the short-lived Super Oyster crown which was produced for only three years. And it features its original red date wheel, associated with desirable Rolexes from the era.

Housed in one of Rolex's water-tight Oyster cases, the wristwatch originally offered its owner complete protection against water, dust, and perspiration. Inside the rugged case, Rolex placed one of the last examples of their caliber 740 Super Balance movements, the handwound model that was the base mechanism for their Bubbleback automatics.

Its case presents in excellent overall condition with one small ding on the edge of the bezel with only light remnants of wear. Its dial, which has a 1/5 second scale for precision timing for racing, aviation, and technical uses, was previously restored.

Its period correct Rolex Oyster "rivet" bracelet with spring-loaded links, which is fully Rolex but has both Rolex USA and Rolex Swiss links presents nicely. It has one link whose spring has lost its zest and is no longer tight. Its finish presents in excellent condition.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new mainspring and new case screws and clamps, polishing the pivots, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (an $895 value).

It is running extremely strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Rolex in our testing recording position. For the finishing touch, we have meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
