In the 1950's while making many more sporting Oystel style watches, Rolex crafted special dress wristwatches to meet the needs of their female clientele.
The rare and beautiful ladies wristwatch featured in today's offering is a wonderful example of one of those pieces. Featuring a very classic case 18K gold with special "crown" style lugs, suggestive of Rolex's coronet symbol, a silver dial, and a fine Rolex mechanism, this gem fits in well on the wrist of an attorney, executive businesswoman, or any woman desiring to wear a true world-class wristwatch.
Here are a few of this watch's features:
- Rare case with glamorous lug decoration, embodying classic 1950's vintage style
- Solid 18K gold case - unlike most Rolex's dress style watches for sale in the United States that were cased in 14K gold in the U.S. this is a true all-Swiss Rolex creation.
- High quality Rolex Precision mechanism with dual shock absorbers
- SIlver dial with distinctive markers
- Original jewelers 14K band - presumably sold and fitted in the U.S. at the time of the original sale
We were fortunate to acquire this uncommon and classic Rolex in pleasing condition. Its elegant and somewhat avant-garde gold case is in excellent condition and still retains its lightly stamped serial number and Rolex coronet on the case back. Its silver dial appears to have been restored in vintage times. Its high-grade Rolex movement is running true.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it making it ready for immediate enjoyment. Photos of the inside available upon request.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Modern Rolexes can't match the charm and romance of this unusual vintage Rolex.
