In vintage times, in the midst of their high output of utilitarian sports watches, Rolex also made much more elegant dress watches. These fine wristwatches often combine a superior mechanism with beautiful aesthetics.
The very fine gentleman's vintage Rolex made for the U.S. market showcased in today's offering is a beautiful original example of this phenomenon. It features classic and elegant styling and a superbly executed handwound movement.
From our experience this model was generally sold as as a corporate presentation piece. Our example is a less common unengraved example.
We are pleased to offer it in beautiful original condition. It has all of its original parts. This is the nicest example of this model we have ever owned.
Its two-tone silver dial is original and untouched in mint condition. It shows only the slightest aging under magnication.
Its case is in beautiful condition. The underside of the bottom left lug has previously been discretely reinforced. It's not really noticeable unless you're looking for it when the watch is face down. And the case has slight wear as to be expected at the groove where it gets pried apart to be opened. Other than that the case presents as just short of mint and appears to have never been polished. On the wrist it presents as mint.
We have left a bit of the patina on the case that has accumulated over the years from sitting safely stored away. If you would like us to remove us let us know - it can be easily wiped off.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker (for many years now Rolex has not "certified" watchmakers, they only "train" them), has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new Rolex mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $595 value).
It is keeping time essentially on par with a new Rolex in our testing position.
Photos of the inside available upon request.
For the finishing touch we have installed a brand new crocodile strap and aftermarket Rolex style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity and a new timing certificate.
Don't miss the opportunity to own a perfect complement to your sporty Datejust, Submariner, or Daytona.
