In vintage times, in the midst of their high output of utilitarian sports watches, Rolex also made much more elegant dress watches. These fine wristwatches often combine a superior mechanism with beautiful aesthetics.
This ultra-thin gentleman's vintage Rolex ref. 9576 showcased in today's offering is a classic and pleasing example of this phenomenon.
Unlike many of their watches made for the U.S. market whose cases were made by contractors in 14K gold, this watch is a true all-Swiss made 18K Rolex creation. It features timeless, elegant styling and a superbly executed "ultra slim" handwound movement.
Epitomizing the essence of 'the classic watch' remembered today, it features a manually wound movement, round gold case, understated dial, slender hands, and simple baton markers. As one prominent watch writer aptly stated about a similar watch, "The extra-slim watch, whose style embraces only the strict essentials, has continued to seduce for its elegance and discretion."
Powering the watch is Rolex very fine seldom seen cailber 650 movement, the company's first ultra thin wristwatch caliber.
It has all of its original parts and presents beautifully. A classic vintage 18K gold vintage bracelet has previously been paired with the watch to give it a truly luxurious presentation. It is non-Rolex and can be taken on and off. At the time of this writing, the gold melt value alone of this watch is over $4,000.
Its case presents as just short of mint with fairly light signs of previous polishing. One of the two hallmarks is very crisp.
Its champagne dial was previously restored - it is bright and clean.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker (for many years now Rolex has not "certified" watchmakers, they only "train" them), has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).
It is running strong and true, keeping very accurate time. For the finishing touch, we have meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity and a new timing certificate.
Don't miss the opportunity to own a complement to your sporty Datejust, Submariner, or Daytona.
