Possessing understated elegance and clean lines this vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual showcases a truly classic style.
As precise as it is classic, this watch is powered by a well-regarded movement, one of the mechanisms that powered early Submariner, Explorer, and GMT models.
Featuring a classic dial and case and equipped with a Teju lizard strap it has an elegant and understated vintage look. But one of the two things that really sets this watch apart is its rare "Underline Dial." The four word, two-line dial has a Rolex factory printed underline underneath the chronometer proclamation.
Only a very few of these watches have Underline Dials. What makes this one even more special is that it still has its original full set of papers from the mid-60's: Its chronometer certificate was issued in 1964, and then it has its original sales certificate / guarantee from when it was sold in 1966. It’s also accompanyed by its original booklets, a true complete papers set!
Its so-called "Tropical or Hypoallergenic" case with gold shell top with original stainless steel back made it more rugged and durable, especially when worn in warm or wet climates.
It is fully Rolex and was just serviced in May of 2016.
It’s a very honest watch, the way we like them. Its dial is original and untouched. Its case is honest and shows wear on the sides and on the end of one lug. It presents very nicely on the wrist.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
A published example of this model can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Guido Mondani editor, Vol. 1, pg. 262.
