Today's offering showcases this Rolex made especially for the American market. This rare example comes with a full set of its box, certificate, booklet, and even its original sales receipt from Nov. 19, 1974! Our photos couldn't do it justice.
In the 1960's and 70's, in the midst of their high output of utilitarian sport watches, Rolex also made this slightly unusual model only for the U.S. market. It featured one of their perpetual movements in a case that had a classic dress style to it.
As precise as it is classic, the watch is powered by the same well-respected automatic Rolex cal. 1520 mechanism that drove early Submariner models. A superior mechanism, it offers a level of engineering and craftsmanship that is exceptional.
Rolex made this model for the American corporate market so most of the examples of these watches you find are engraved on the back.
This special example is the nicest one of this model that we have owned or remember seeing, and to top it off comes as a full set with original receipt. It is untouched except for the movement servicing we performed. It is better than near mint with a few spots of wear and wear from someone previously opening the tight waterproof style snap case. The crispness of the facets and lines on the case are like new-old-stock.
Its dial is mint, and its engine is very clean.
As part of the restoration a Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $595 value).
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Like always included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function and a new timing certificate.
Don't miss the opportunity to own the perfect complement to your sporty Datejust, Sub, GMT, or Daytona!
