One of the more seldom seen classic vintage Rolex watches is the Oyster Precision as Rolex made most watches of this style with a date.
It features a much thinner profile than the Perpetual models due to its hand-wound movement, and its understated and very classic design contrast the "busier" look of some of the modern Rolex watches. It's a watch that is perfectly at home being worn everyday or only for special occasions.
Today's offering showcases this Certified Pre-Owned vintage Oyster Precision. It measures 34mm in diameter, the same size as a Rolex Date model. It features an awesome original dial with uncommon gold painted dart and late Art Deco styled indices and 1/5 markings for precision timing.
It is one of the relatively few Rolex watches to feature the short-lived Super Oyster crown which was produced for only approximately three years in the early 50's. The “Super-Oyster” winding crown was an attempt by Rolex to create a waterproof winding crown which did not need to be screwed down. While the system itself worked, in time the rubber seal perished and therefore this crown type was phased out after only a few years of production.
With its gorgeous original dial with distinctive design and Super Oyster crown, this Rolex checks the boxes for cool and interesting features. And it has the look of a solid gold Rolex for a fraction of the price.
It is fully Rolex down to the hands and winding crown. The vintage case is genuine Rolex and appears to have been previously replaced at some point, perhaps by a watchmaker or by Rolex during servicing.
It presents in gorgeous condition. Its case presents as just short of mint with light wear hidden between the case lugs. With a strap installed it presents as mint. Its untouched dial is mint.
It has just been freshly overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It continues to run strong and true.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new calfskin strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function.
