In the 1940's, no name better captured the idea of embracing the best life had to offer than that of Tiffany & Co. One of their special offerings to their most discriminating female clients was a line of jeweled watches emblazoned with the Tiffany & Co. name on the dial. Although the maker's name were always hidden, the retailer contracted with a number of the world's fine watch and jewelry making firms to produce these treasured timepieces.
One such firm was Cresarrow of New York, one of the best case manufacturers of the day. Founded by Henry Blank in the late nineteenth century, Cresarrow contracted with Patek Philippe, Vacheron & Constantin, and Tiffany & Co. and other firms to build some of their wristwatch cases for the U.S. market.
Cresarrow also supplied movements for Tiffany's watches, as is the case with this special watch. Evidence suggests the company worked in collaboration with C.H. Meylan, a high grade niche manufacturer, and IWC Schaffhausen for production of their movements.
Today's offering showcases this beautiful rose gold and ruby Tiffany & Co. watch made by Cresarrow. We were fortunate to it in all-original condition, down to the dial, hands, and even winding crown.
It was done in a very traditional/popular Cresarrow for Tiffany style with large spherical lugs and finds and snake mesh bracelet. We also have a second very similar example of this model that was accompanied by an independent appraisal from a GIA certfied appraiser that listed its retail replacement value for insurance purposes at $8,000. Please inquire if you would like to see it.
Its 14k rose gold case is in very good condition. Its matching salmon tone Tiffany & Co. dial is original. It could expertly restored if you prefer the look of a restored watch...please inquire. Ands it very fine, Cresarrow movement made for Tiffany & Co. is clean and running true.
Our watchmaker has just freshly cleaned and oiled its movement.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
If you are looking for a special treasure for someone in your life, this is it. Modern Tiffany watches don't match the charm and romance of this vintage original.
