1930's Rolex Art Nouveau Vintage Ladies Tonneau Watch - 9K Rose Gold

Rolex

Item No. 8574

Today's offering showcases this rare and beautiful 9K rose gold Art Nouveau ladies Rolex.

In the first decade after the turn of the twentieth century when someone referred to a gentleman's watch they most often meant one object - a large, timing instrument kept in the pocket. That changed in part because of Hans Wilsdorf, a true legend in timekeeping history, who founded Rolex Watch Co. in 1908. When the first World War erupted, demand rose sharply for these novel watches as Allied servicemen needed a more suitable way to access their vital timepieces.

At the close of the war watch company's continued further down the path of having wristwatches eventually replace pocket watches as the timepiece of choice, and watches for women slowly began to enter the mainstream as well.

Shortly after the development of their Oyster case and before they began to specialize in mostly sport watches, Rolex crafted dress wristwatches of very fine quality.

This very fine Art Nouveau Rolex features a classic and beautifully decorated rose gold case, complementary ornately decorated dial, and very high grade Rolex Prima handwound chronometer. The movement is adjusted to run accurately across a full six positions and has an elinvar alloy hairspring feature usually reserved for only the top tier of mens movements.

During this period, after assembly and testing, Rolex labeled their best performing movements with some version of the three-tiered "Prima designation."

It has all of its original parts down to its hands and even rare original Rolex Patent + winding crown.

Its original gold Rolex case is excellent condition with only light wear. It retains strong stamping. Its wonderful dial, has just been restored by one of the leading dial experts in North America. And its very fine Prima-grade Rolex movement is keeping very accurate time.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker (for many years now Rolex does not "certify" they only "train"), has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing, testing and regulation (a $595 value).

For the finishing touch it comes installed on what appears to be its original gold-filled complementary bracelet with ornate clasp making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
