1971 Omega Seamaster Mens Vintage Stainless Steel 42mm Watch with Cal. 565 - Rare 1st Edition Big Yellow with Box & Tag

Omega

Item No. 6739

Today's offering showcases this very cool and rare vintage Seamaster 166.066 so-called "Big Yellow" mens watch.

Believed to be made in only 1971, these watches earned their name because of their bezel and extra-large 42mm case diameter which really fills out the wrist.

This watch is especially interesting because it is the first generation edition powered by an Omega's top-tier caliber 565 movement, and one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs. It has 24 jewels and is one of the finest mass-produced automatic movements from the era.

The second edition Big Yellow, which is uncommon but seen more often, was powered by the less fine 1002 movement. 1950's through 70's Seamasters are great buys as parts are readily available for their well-made movements, and they're not hard to service.

It is 100% original down to the dial, hands, winding crown, crystal, and signed Omega strap!

The case is just short of mint with signs of light polishing to the back. It presents as mint on the wrist. The striking dial which has almost a meteorite effect type texturing is untouched and just short of perfect mint.

One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Accompanying the watch are its original hang tag and Omega boxes and open papers.

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function and a new timing certificate attesting to the watch's performance.
