1973 Omega Constellation Chronometer Rare Large Vintage Mens Watch - Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 8100

Today's offering showcases this very rare and cool example of a vintage ref. 155.0014 Constellation. You won't find another one for sale anywhere.

It is fully Omega and presents in gorgeous condition. It presents as about a 9.7 or 9.8 out of 10.

It has a surprisingly large case for the era with striking faceted angular accented with soft lines and distinctive hobnail dial.

Tonneau Constellations are one of the few that have a more rectangular dress watch appearance.

Powering the watch is Omega's officially certified chronometer caliber 700 series movement, the thinnest automatic chronometer movement ever made by the company. The movement which appears original is signed 711 on the bridge. It may be one of the 711 movements that was worked into chronometer grade form, or the bridge may have been replaced.

The 700 series has a direct lineage to the celebrated 500 series, and is arguably as good, and collectors are beginning to recognize it accordingly. It was the last very fine movement series of its kind before Omega began to make budget cuts because of the quartz revolution.

We were fortunate to acquire it in such gorgeous original condition.

The case presents gorgeously on the wrist. The end of one lug has aged / pitted. Because the lugs turn downward toward the wrist the end is not readily noticeable. Otherwise the case presents as gorgeous mint.

The dial appears original and mint. It is just bit darker than the photos seemed to capture.

The movement has been freshly fully overhauled by a Master Watchmaker - it is running very true. For the finishing touch we have installed a new calfskin band making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

A nearly five decade old Omega that looks like new!
