Today's offering showcases this distinctively styled mens high-beat Ulysse Nardin chronometer. It is very uncommon with a large, retro case powered by a high-frequency movement, an unusual combination.
It’s a watch that feels deliberate and design-driven - strong in form, balanced in proportion, and visually memorable from across the room.
With its broad, softly contoured square case and stepped bezel, this watch has a distinctive presence. Measuring an impressive 31mm by nearly 38mm (without the crown), it wears with real substance, its wide stance and strong geometry giving it a confident, modern profile that was notably bold for its era.
The brushed metal case contrasts beautifully with the rich blue sunburst dial, which shifts subtly in the light, adding depth and dimension. The large Roman numerals lend a classical, almost maritime elegance, while the clean handset and framed date window provide balance and restraint.
The result is a compelling blend of old-world refinement and late-20th-century modernism - formal enough for a suit, yet distinctive enough to stand apart from more conventional round designs.
Besides its striking profile, it features a high frequency 36,000 beats per hour balance system, twice the speed of many traditional watches and the fastest beat rate of the era, insuring exceptional accuracy.
Only a few specialist models of watches from a handful of brands beat at 36,000 per hour. As both a high frequency watch and a officially certified chronometer, this watch would have been among the very best when it came to accuracy in a widely-produced watch at the time.
It has all of its original parts down to its crystal and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents in gorgeous condition - a 9.6 out of 10.
Its case presents as just short of perfect mint with only light signs of previous polishing. On the wrist it presents like new.
Its dial has been meticulously restored - the printing could pass as UN factory done to the naked eye.
As part of the restoration, a Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the movement.
It is running very strong and true, keeping time on par with a brand new Ulysse Nardin in our testing recording position.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Ulysse Nardin:
Ulysse Nardin is best known by many collectors for creating chronometers, extremely accurate time keeping instruments. Their marine chronometer used by ship's captains to plot and follow the correct course while at sea. By employing sextants and chronometers, a captain could track the changes in his course over time and determine the exact location of his ship, and Nardin's marine chronometers were among the most reliable and sought after.
