Today's offering showcases this handsome and desirable tear drop lug model.
Elegant yet understated, it appeals to the man who is satisfied knowing that he was wearing one of finest watches in the world and does not need to parade it. We have always felt that V & C's tear drop lug watches from this narrow era are some of the most elegant high-end dress watches.
It is equipped with a high-grade Vacheron & Constantin movement that is outfitted with an early, indirect sweep seconds mechanism with half second markings. Originally designed for physician's to time their patient's pulse and for professional use in other technical and sporting fields, it possesses all the necessary capabilities to earn it its place among the finest handwound timepieces in the world.
Made mostly during World War II, this fine watch dates to c. 1942 - 1943.
It has all of its original Vacheron and Constantin parts except the vintage crown which is a very good match to the original in fit and style.
On the wrist it presents in pleasing condition. Its 18K Vacheron & Constantin case presents in excellent condition. It shows only light signs of previous polishing to the back and the back has light remnants of wear, a light indention, and a light pin prick. On the wrist it presents as just short of mint.
Its silver dial is a very high quality restoration done in early vintage times. Plesae inquire if you would like it freshly refinished. And its high-grade Vacheron & Constantin movement is clean.
One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).
It is running strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new V & C in our testing position. It has a mineral glass crystal that provides a clear view to the edge of the large concave dial.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
