Breitling

Item No. 5855

"There has never been anyone in a plane's cockpit without a Breitling ... on his wrist -- or who would at least wished to have one." - Musings of an aviation journalist

Today's offering showcases this classic and collectable Breitling ref. 789 Premier. It is 100% Breitling down to the original dial, all hands, pushers, and winding crown.

It has a well-executed crown wheel chronograph mechanism and is capable of recording events up to 45 minutes and was made for men who needed a true precision timing instrument. Its dial features an outer tachometer ring that measures the speed of objects, done especially for aviation and auto racing uses.

The case is in beautiful condition. The dial is original and untouched.

The movement has just been fully expertly serviced, and a new Breitling crown has been installed. It is running true, and the chronograph resets very strongly and precisely.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Vintage Breitling Chronographs:
Since its founding in 1884, the Breitling firm has been known for working tirelessly to define what the perfect watch should be. Embraced by pilots since the dawning of aeronautics, Breitling watches are the only ones that grace the wrists of the world's elite aerobatic groups, namely the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds, The British Red Arrows, and the Russian Knights.

A chronograph specialist since its founding, Breitling played key roles in the bringing about the idea of the modern wrist chronograph including inventing the first independent push piece in 1915, separating the start, stop, and reset features in 1923, and creating the second independent push piece in 1934 which established the modern wrist chronograph as we know it.

Vintage examples of Breitling's chronographs are sought after by serious collector's, aviation enthusiasts, Hollywood celebrities and anyone who desires to wear a world-class timepiece.
