1951 IWC Vintage Mens Full Size Watch, Cal. 85 Automatic, 18K Gold - Bombe (Bombay) Lugs

IWC

Item No. 5602

Today's offering showcases this very fine automatic IWC featured powered by the Albert Pellaton designed Caliber 85 movement. This mechanism's automatic winding system is a technical masterpiece, earning it high praise - Gisbert Brunner and Christian Pfeiffer-Belli in their work, Wristwatches Armbanduhren Montres-bracelets, proclaimed it "one of the best automatic movements ever built in Switzerland."

The famous watchmaker Donald de Carle, in his book Complicated Watches and their Repair, remarked that IWC's special automatic winding mechanism was "a simple and ingenious system, well constructed and beautifully finished."

Featuring Bombe lugs, this handsome dress watch added a touch of extra class to IWC's mid-century offerings.

At 34mm in diameter, it is the same size as Rolex Date model.

It is in expertly restored condition and presents as gorgeous condition. The dial is a perfect refinishing.

The full size case presents as just short of mint mint. And as part of the restoration the movement has been freshly overhauled by a Master Watchmaker and is running very true.

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

A five and a half decade old IWC that looks almost like new on the wrist!
