1953 Rolex Mens Vintage Oyster Precision Watch, Stainless Steel - Classic & Rare Design

Rolex

Item No. 6478H

One of the more seldom seen classic vintage Rolex watches is the Oyster Precision as Rolex made most watches of this style with a date.

It features a much thinner profile than the Perpetual models due to its hand-wound movement, and its understated and very classic design contrast the "busier" look of some of the modern Rolex watches. It's a watch that is perfectly at home being worn everyday or only for special occasions.

Made for less than three years, the 6022 is one of the more uncommon mid-century Oysters. Adding to the rarity of our Certified Pre-Owned one, is its original black gilt dial and further differentiating it is its uncommon Super Oyster crown. This Rolex checks a lot of boxes for cool and interesting features.

The 6022 was one of the relatively few Rolex models to feature the short-lived Super Oyster crown which was produced for only approximately three years. The “Super-Oyster” winding crown was an attempt by Rolex to create a waterproof winding crown which did not need to be screwed down. While the system itself worked, in time the rubber seal perished and therefore this crown type was phased out after only a few years of production.

It is all original down to the dial, hands, and Super Oyster crown and presents beautifully. The untouched dial shows the very beginning of tropical fading and has a true vintage look. The aged luminous on the hands and dial is nicely toned and well-matching.

Its original handwound movement is running strong and true.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap and it has a Rolex buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Note: Published examples of this model can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Vol. 2, pg. 232.
