1953 Rolex Oyster Shock-Resisting Classic Vintage Mens Handwound Watch - Stainless Steel

Rolex

Item No. 9074

One of the more seldom seen classic vintage Rolex watches is the Oyster Shock-Resisting as Rolex made most watches of this style with a date.

It features a much thinner profile than the Perpetual models - its understated, elegant and classic design contrast the "busier" look of some of the modern Rolex watches.

Today's offering showcases this uncommon reference 6244 Certified Pre-Owned Oyster in incredible restored condition.

Rolex was a fairly early adopter of using shock protection in their movements, and the 6244 was one of the early models to offer it, as the dial proudly proclaims.

The centerpiece of the watch is its truly awesome dial, which adds to its uncommonness. The dial plate has an extensive raised checkboard pattery, and the markers are wonderfully inset into the dial, a design Rolex used on a few of their mid-century pieces. It is a supremely elegant look for a steel Oyster blending casual and sophisticated design.

Powering the watch is its Rolex caliber 710 handwound hunter movement with early shock resistance and a Rolex's Super Balance system.

It has all of its original parts and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents in amazing nearly like new condition, a 9.8 out of 10. Our photos couldn't do it justice.

Its case presents as beautiful mint with lugs that show very little signs of previous polishing. Its dial has been meticulously restored - the printing could pass as Rolex factory done to the naked eye.

As part of the restoration it has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker (a $495 value). It is running strongly and keeping accurate time.

For the finishing touch it comes equipped with a brand new calfskin strap and aftermarket Rolex style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
