1960's Cartier Vintage Mens "Collection Privee" Level Dress Watch - Solid 18K Gold

Cartier

Item No. 7974

Today's showcases this rare and desirable edition of a vintage Cartier dress watch in 18K gold.

A distinctive dress watch, it has a classic 18K gold case and timeless gold dial.

This very fine and rare version features a Cartier caliber 21 ultra thin handwound movement, a much higher grade mechanism that what's found in most other vintage Cartiers and would be similar to the more recent Collection Privee or Cartier Fine Watchmaking specialized elite level watches.

Made for Beuche Girod for Cartier by Frederic Piguet, it is an ultra-thin movement measuring only approximately 1.73mm thick. At the time, that was close to the record for the thinnest normal movement, in the same ballpark as the famous ultra-thins like the AP / V & C 1000/2000 movements, and even thinner than the Piaget 9p.

Please inquire if you would like to see photos of the elite movement.

It has just finished a true expertly done restoration and presents in gorgeous condition.

Its Florentine textured case is better than near mint with light remants of wear. It retains all of its original outer Cartier stamping. On the wrist it presents beautifully.

Its dial has been meticulously restored by one of the leading dial experts in North America.

As part of the restoration one of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it and installed a new mineral glass crystal. It continues to keep accurate time.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

If you are looking for a timelessly classic high-end mens Cartier, this is a great choice.
