1971 IWC Vintage Full Size Mens Watch, Cal. 8541B Automatic with Date - Stainless Steel

IWC

Item No. 6174

Today's offering showcases this superior automatic IWC powered by the Albert Pellaton designed Caliber 8541B movement and with classic and timeless steel case.

This mechanism's automatic winding system is a technical masterpiece, earning it high praise - Gisbert Brunner and Christian Pfeiffer-Belli in their work, Wristwatches Armbanduhren Montres-bracelets, proclaimed the 85x series "one of the best automatic movements ever built in Switzerland."

And the famous watchmaker Donald de Carle, in his book Complicated Watches and their Repair, stated that IWC's special automatic winding mechanism was "a simple and ingenious system, well constructed and beautifully finished."

IWC built this watch in 1971 at the same they were building their famous Ingenieur line and with equipped it with the same movement. These dress watches are more elegant than the pragmatic Ingenieur but share similar high-performance timekeeping qualities in normal wearing conditions. And compared to an Ingenieur, because they do not have a second inner back, the cases are thinner and lighter on the wrist.

At 35mm in diameter, it is in between the sizes of a Rolex Date and a Rolex Datejust.

It is in pleasing original condition, fully original down to the dial, hands, and original fish signed crown. The dial is original and untouched and shows just light even aging.

Our watchmaker has just freshly serviced the movement which winds very smoothly and is running extremely accurately. Please inquire if you would like photos of the inside.

For the finishing touch we have installed a new Teju lizard band making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
