1920's Rolex Ladies Vintage Art Deco Watch - 9K Rose Gold

Rolex

Item No. 6929

While busy developing their Oyster case, Rolex also crafted lady's dress pieces to meet the needs of their wealthy female clients. The fine wristwatch featured in today's offering is an example of one of these very early Lady Rolex timepieces.

The centerpiece of the watch is its beautiful original decorated porcelain dial. Unlike most similar Rolex watches from the era which normally have unsigned dials, this more desirable example is signed Rolex.

It has black Roman numerals and a wonderful gold outer track with small diamond shaped markers. Powering this gem is a fine, early Rolex "Rebberg" timekeeping mechanism housed in its original 9K gold Rolex case.

As one of the world's first wristwatches, the wonderful transitional watches showcase their pocket watch heritage with their wide bezel, distinctive blued steel hands, and onion style winding crowns.

Its solid gold case is lightly tinted rose in color. While we have owned a couple dozen of these watches over the years, this is the first we can remember that seems to have been made with an inner and outer back lid. The outer lid is no longer present. It doesn't affect the watch and all of the factory markings are on the inner world. The inner lid and case band have pin prick indentions. On the wrist, it presents nicely.

Four of our Master Watchmakers and one of our Master Jewelers have worked for five years sympathetically restoring the watch which even included custom fabricating parts to the original factory functional quality and factory quality decorated finish We took it on as a project to save it from the scrap gold heap and breathe new life into it again for future generations, and it became a bigger project than anticipated (a $2195 value.) Our loss is your gain.

We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is keeping very accurate time. These watches are known for not operating well because of their age, but this one is now a pleasing exception to that.

For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new black cord strap that replicates the look of the original making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

Your watch is important to us, and we will take care of it for its lifetime. One used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealership and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center.
