1925 Tiffany & Co. Ladies Vintage Watch - Platinum & 18K Gold

Tiffany & Co.

Item No. 7864

In the 1920's, no name better captured the idea of embracing the best life had to offer than that of Tiffany & Co. One of their special offerings to their most discriminating female clients was a line of jewelled watches emblazoned with the Tiffany & Co. name on the dial.

Although the maker's name were always hidden, the retailer contracted with a number of the world's fine watch and jewelry making firms to produce these treasured timepieces.

One such firm was the American Watch Case Company, a small very high-end U.S. case manufacturer, who contracted with Tiffany & Co. to build some of their wristwatch cases. Unlike other high end American case makers who made cases across a wide price spectrum - something even Cresarrow did - the American Watch Case Company of New York only made high-grade cases in precious metals. Note that this is not the American Watch Case Company of Toronto later associated with Waltham and Elgin, at all.

American Watch Case Co. also supplied the movement to Tiffany for the special watch showcased in this offering. It appears the company worked in collaboration with high-grade Swiss manufacturers, as this movement appears similar to C.H. Meylan and IWC Schaffhausen quality movements.

We were fortunate to acquire it in all original condition down to the dial, hands, and beautifully ornate winding crown, an impressive state for a nearly century old wristwatch. It is in very pleasing condition, appearing to have been worn carefully in appreciation of its quality and value.

Its beautiful platinum and 18K gold decorated case is near mint. Its silver Tiffany & Co. dial with radial Art Deco numerals is original and untouched. Original dials are seldom seen on nearly 100 year old Tiffany's like this. And its original ornate Art Nouveau open frame geometric filigree style design, presumably platinum but not marked, presents wonderfully.

One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it and installed a new correctly mineral glass crystal. It is keeping very accurate time.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

If you are looking for a special treasure for someone in your life, this is it. Modern Tiffany watches don't match the charm and romance of this vintage original.
