1940 Cresarrow Vintage Art Deco Ladies Watch - Palladium, Diamonds & Aquamarines

Cresarrow

Item No. 10089SH

Today's offering showcases this fabulous original Art Deco ladies vintage Cresarrow watch. It has a stunning diamond and aquamarine case done in palladium - in the platinum family of metals - and 14K white gold and diamond bracelet.

Cresarrow of New York was one of the premier American luxury watchmakers/jewelers in the first several decades of the twentieth century. Founded by Henry Blank in the late nineteenth century, Cresarrow contracted with the esteemed likes of Patek Philippe, Vacheron & Constantin, IWC and others to build superior quality wristwatch cases for their U.S. market watches.

Cresarrow also supplied complete watches to Tiffany & Co. and Cartier. A similar watch made for Tiffany & Co. is pictured in John Loring's book Tiffany Timepieces.

Because Cresarrow’s principal role was as a contractor and collaborator, comparatively few watches were produced and marketed under the Cresarrow name itself. When one encounters a signed example such as this, it represents not simply a vintage cocktail watch, but a direct expression of a firm that helped define standards of luxury presentation for some of the most respected names in horology.

Its stunning Cresarrow made case exudes quality and it features its original very high-grade 18 jewel movement adjusted to three positions.

Today’s offering showcases an original Art Deco ladies Cresarrow cocktail watch - an example of the firm stepping out from behind the curtain and placing its own name on the dial and inside the case. In an industry where Cresarrow’s reputation was built on elevating the work of other great houses, pieces bearing the Cresarrow signature represent the company speaking in its own voice.

Its palladium case demonstrates the firm’s mastery of precious metal fabrication during the Art Deco era. Palladium was favored for its platinum-like tone and resilience, aligning with the refined aesthetic demanded by high-end clientele of the period. It is set with diamonds and two geometric aquamarines, echoing the architectural symmetry and icy glamour synonymous with late 1930's and early 40's design.

It is original down to the dial finish and winding crown. Its removeable bracelet may be a period addition.

Its case is in excellent condition with fairly light wear - it has not recently been polished. Please inquire if you would like it polished.

Its silver dial, done with Cresarrow's customary dots markers and black painted Arabic numbers for the primary hours, is original and untouched and has aged to a light tropical finish.

Please inquire if you would like the dial expertly restored.

One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it. We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is keeping very accurate time.

For the finishing touch, we have metiulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
