In the 1940's, no name better captured the idea of embracing the best life had to offer than that of Tiffany & Co. One of their special offerings to their most discriminating female clients was a line of jeweled watches emblazoned with the Tiffany & Co. name on the dial. Although the maker's name were always hidden, the retailer contracted with a number of the world's fine watch and jewelry making firms to produce these treasured timepieces.
One such firm was Cresarrow of New York, one of the best case manufacturers of the day. Founded by Henry Blank in the late nineteenth century, Cresarrow contracted with Patek Philippe, Vacheron & Constantin, and Tiffany & Co. and other firms to build some of their wristwatch cases for the U.S. market.
Cresarrow also supplied movements for Tiffany's watches, as is the case with this special watch. Evidence suggests the company worked in collaboration with C.H. Meylan, a high grade niche manufacturer, and IWC Schaffhausen for production of their movements.
Today's offering showcases this beautiful 14K gold, diamond, and ruby Tiffany & Co. watch made by Cresarrow. It is lightly tinted rose gold in hue, and its long case has hinged lugs to comfortably wrap around the wrist.
We were fortunate to acquire it in all-original condition, down to the dial, hands, and even winding crown.
It was done in a very traditional/popular Cresarrow for Tiffany style with large rounded case and lugs. We recently sold a second very similar example of this model that was accompanied by an independent appraisal from a GIA certified appraiser that listed its retail replacement value for insurance purposes at $8,000. Please inquire if you would like to see it.
Its 14K gold, diamond, and ruby Cresarrow for Tiffany case presents beautifully on the wrist. The back has previously had an inscription removed by a jeweler. Please inquire if you would like the back plated to hide any signs of it. Otherwise, the case shows very little wear and presents on the wrist as just short of mint.
Its silver Tiffany & Co. dial is original and untouched with only light aging. It's fine, Swiss made Cresarrow for Tiffany movement is clean.
One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled it down to the last screw and serviced it. We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist and it is keeping time within three seconds per hour.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new black cord strap designed to replicate the look of the original making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its functio and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
If you are looking for a special treasure for someone in your life, this is it. Modern Tiffany watches don't match the charm and romance of this vintage original.
