1947 Rolex Oyster Large Rare Model with Sector Dial Vintage Mens Watch - Stainless Steel

Rolex

Item No. 8814SH

Today's offering showcases this C.O.T. Certified Pre-Owned Rolex Oyster ref. 5024 - 4934 with extremely rare sector dial.

Rolex 5024's are themselves quite an uncommon model. They are pleasingly larger than average size for a mid-century Oyster measuring 36mm. Rolex fabricated a special patented movement holder to accommodate the larger than usual case for the era. Photos of the inside available upon request.

But what's even more unusual than its full size case and movement holder is its extremely rare sector dial. Our research didn't find another example. Although the dial was restored in vintage times, we suspect the configuration is original. It has 1/5 second markings for precision timing for demanding technical, professional, and sporting uses.

Powering the watch is its original Rolex caliber 710 handwound movement with patented Super Balance, which served as the basis as for Rolex's mounting an automatic winding system to it for the Bubbleback watches.

It has fully Rolex parts.

Its case presents as just short of mint on the wrist. The back has remnants of wear throughout that are not visible while it's being worn. Its dial, which was restored long ago, presents very nicely with toned luminous.

Please note that a new correct size strap has been installed on the watch since the photos were taken.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).

It is running very accurately, keeping time on par with a new Rolex in our testing position.

For the finishing touch, we have installed a brand new crocodile strap and aftermarket Rolex style buckle and meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
