1960 Omega Constellation "De Luxe" Dial Vintage Mens Watch - 18K Gold

Omega

Item No. 9835SH

Today's offering showcases this very collectable, classic and original ref. 14343 Constellation with fabulous mint condition "De Luxe" dial. The dial is to die for.

Its combination of different angles of applied satin and high polish finish gives it a three-tone appearance. It looks so refined.

The 1960's were an important decade for Omega. In 1959 Omega introduced a new series of movements that would become famous powering their flagship watch, the Constellation, and would be officially certified by the "Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres" (Swiss watch governing body) as a chronometer, the highest honor given to a movement. The next year Omega produced 20,000 Constellations in succession that all achieved chronometer status with no failures.

One such movement in this new series was the Caliber 561. Made exclusively for the Constellation, the robust movement was one of the finest extensively produced automatic movements and is the mechanism that powers the Constellation featured here.

Here are some of this watch's features:

* Beautiful and very desirable untouched two-tone gold "De Luxe" dial in mint condition

* Officially certified as a chronometer by the "Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres" (Swiss watch governing body), the highest distinction given to a watch based on its accuracy

* Long 50 hour running reserve keeps the watch consistently running, even when not worn daily

* Precision micrometer regulator for small timing adjustments

* Classic Constellation case with lyre lugs and Constellation logo on the back

We were fortunate to acquire it with all of its original parts. The only part that we replaced was installing a brand new correct Omega crystal because the original had a single deep scratch.

Its elegant 18K gold case presents beautifully on the wrist. The back shows signs of previous polishing, fairly light wear, and wrench marks as are common with these from being opened by previous watchmakers for servicing. It retains two perfectly crisp hallmarks on the undersides of the lugs. On the wrist, it presents in excellent condition with only light wear. Please inquire if you would like it polished.

As we mentioned, its original and untouched De Luxe dial, the sophisticated centerpiece of this watch, is mint. And its fine chronometer movement is very clean.

One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine replacements, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).

After seven decades it is still running very strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Omega.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
