1960's Cartier Vintage Mens Mechanical "TV" Shaped Dress Watch - Solid 18K Gold

Cartier

Item No. 7896

Today's offering showcases this scarce and gorgeous vintage "TV shaped" Cartier dress watch in 18K gold.

A distinctive dress watch, it has a classic 18K gold case and retro silver dial with fabulous markers. As a mens midsize it is well suited for a man with smaller wrists or for a woman.

Powering the watch is its original Cartier handwound caliber 78-1 mechanism, the same movement that powered the company's iconic Tank watches for many years.

Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for certain wristwatches, Cartier utilized Swiss-crafted mechanical movements. Because of this extra care and craftsmanship, Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often considered more desirable than their quartz counterparts.

It has 100% original parts. It has just finished a true expertly done restoration and presents in gorgeous condition.

Its case is just short of mint with light signs of previous polishing and slight unevenness in the center of the back in the soft 18K gold. On the wrist it presents beautifully.

Its dial has been meticulously restored by one of the leading dial experts in North America.

As part of the restoration one of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it and installed a correct new-old-stock crystal. It continues to run at very accurate levels.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
