Today's offering showcases this very cool classic vintage Seamaster. Powering the watch is Omega's caliber 752 movement with twenty-four jewels (seven more than in many Seamaster versions from the period), day of the week indication, and a quick-setting date.
The 700 series has a direct lineage with the celebrated 500 series, and is arguably as good, and collectors are beginning to recognize it accordingly.
Here are some of its features:
- Powered by Omega's first day/date movement
- Slightly uncommon model
- Highly-efficient, bi-directional self-winding mechanism keeps the watch powered by the smallest movement by the central rotor in both directions
- Twenty-four (24) rubies (seven more than in most watches) strategically placed at key friction points minimize the wear to the internal parts, insuring that with proper care the watch will run perfectly for generations
- Extra long 50 hour running reserve keeps the watch consistently running, even when not worn daily
- Quick-set date for easy date selection
- Day of the week calendar
- Attractive and large retro styled waterproof style stainless steel case
- Fully Omega down to the dial, hands, and crown
But what is most striking about this watch is its gorgeous restored condition. Our photos couldn't do it justice.
It has just finished being restored with a true expertly done restoration. It presents as mint on the wrist. Its dial has been meticulously refinished - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.
As part of the restoration the movement has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. Its movement is very clean. It winds smoothly and is keeping accurate time. Photos of the inside available upon request.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new calfskin strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to the watch's performance.
Note: A similar watch resides in the Omega Museum in Switzerland and can be seen in Marco Richon's work, Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 292.
A more than five decade old Seamaster that looks like new!
Omega is perhaps best known by watch connoisseurs for its Seamaster line of dive watches. Introduced in 1948, they have been embraced by water sports enthusiasts and often marry a striking look with a high performance movement.
