1964 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Vintage Mens Watch with Rare Underline Dial - 14K Gold

Rolex

Item No. 9895

Possessing refined elegance and clean lines this vintage Rolex ref. 1005 Oyster Perpetual showcases a truly timeless style.

As precise as it is classic, this watch is powered by a well-regarded movement, one of the mechanisms that powered early Submariner, Explorer, and GMT models.

Featuring a classic silver dial, engine turned indexed bezel on its 14K gold case, and equipped with a Teju strap this watch has an elegant and understated vintage look.

But what really sets it apart for the true collector is its rare untouched "underline dial." The four word, two-line has a Rolex factory printed underline highlighting the words.

We were fortunate to acquire it with all of its original parts.

The engine turning on the bezel is light and not present in a few spots. On the underside the backs of the lugs showcase leftover wear from a metal bracelet and the back has three indentions not visible while the watch is being worn. It has been priced accordingly. It presents nicely on the wrist.

Its rare original "Underline Dial," with wonderful retro styled baton indices, is in excellent condition with only fairly light natural aging and toning, giving it a true vintage look.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $995 value).

For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new aftermarket Teju lizard strap and aftermarket Rolex style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, a new timing certificate attesting to its performance, also accompanying the watch is an authentication card from Stoll & Co. / eBay's authenticators ($80 value).

A published example of this model can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Guido Mondani editor, Vol. 1, pg. 262.
