Item No. 10012
Sold Out
Created in 1967 by Omega's sales director Robert Forster, the Dynamic is an iconic example of a true retro style. The clean and functional watch, a considerable success for Omega, possessed a number of designed elements that made it stand out:
* An ellipse shape with recessed crown determined to be the best geometric shape for the wrist, determined after extensive study
* Unicoc case with hermetically sealed crystal water-resistant to a depth of 30m.
* Available with a stainless steel bracelet or easily interchangeable water-resistant Cor-fam straps
According to an Omega advertisement at the time, "The shape of the Omega Dynamic was determined by the anatomy of your wrist; its dial by the workings of your eyes; it strap by the physiology of your skin."
Today's offering showcases this first generation Dynamic in our gorgeous all-original condition. The first generation of the watch lasted only from 1968 until 1970.
It has an awesome two-tone dial with a seldom seen design - we've only seen it a handful of times. It is much less common than the usual configurations.
As one of the early Dynamics, before Omega switched to using the 1000 series movements for the line, it is powered by Omega's high-grade caliber 565.
Omega's top-tier caliber 565 movement, one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs, was the top-tier offering of the 500 series. It has 24 jewels and a quick-setting date and is arguably the finest mass-produced automatic movement from era.
It is all-original and presents in gorgeous condition. Its case presents as mint. The stamping on the back is still crisp.
Its fabulous and uncommon dark gray and navy two-tone Omega dial is original and untouched in mint condition.
Its very fine automatic Omega movement has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It is running strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position.
It comes equipped with an aftermarket leather strap done in a Dynamic style and Omega signed buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
You won't be disappointed with this one...an almost fifty year old Dynamic that presents like new on the wrist!
Note: An example of this watch resides in the Omega museum, and a published example can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 483.
