1972 Omega Geneve "Submariner" Vintage Mens Divers Watch - Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 8449

Today's offering showcases this rare example of an Omega Geneve ref. ST 166.0124 divers watch with rotating elapsed time bezel.

These are cool watches that are very seldom seen even by the seasoned Omega collector.

It has a Gerald Genta-style case with diver's bezel, matte black dial, automatic Omega caliber 1481 movement with quick-setting date, and integral bracelet.

It has fully Omega parts down to even the original signed crystal! It presents in gorgeous condition.

The body and back present as mint. The bezel still retains its original factory finish and has only light wear that is visible and at times to degrees depending on the viewing angle - it was difficult getting the camera to pick it up. Otherwise the case presents as mint.

The dial has been previously refinished. With the exception of the Geneve script, which was done in an earlier period font, the rest of the dial presents perfectly and could pass as Omega factory done.

A Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $495 value).

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Omega Geneve line:
Beginning in 1953 Omega placed the name Geneve on the dials of some of the members of the 30mm collection which at the time were produced in the company's workshops in Geneve - to put Geneve on a dial of a watch certain components and processes must take place in Geneve. According to Omega the name referred to the Genevan Observatory where the early 30mm calibers set a number of records.
