While busy developing their Oyster case, Rolex also crafted lady's pieces to meet the needs of their wealthy female clients. The fine wristwatch featured in this offering is an example of one of these very early Lady Rolex timepieces.
Unlike most similar Rolex watches from the era which normally have unsigned dials, this more desirable example is signed Rolex.
It has black Roman numerals and striking red twelve. Powering this gem is a fine, early Rolex "Rebberg" timekeeping mechanism housed in its original 9K rose gold Rolex case. Completing the watch is its original solid 9K rose gold expansion bracelet.
As one of the world's first wristwatches, these wonderful transitional watches showcase their pocket watch heritage with their spade hands and so-called onion style winding crowns.
Its solid gold case, lightly tinted rose in color, is in excellent condition, nicer than our photos seem to suggest. The striking dial with red twelve is very clean, restored in vintage times.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
These watches are known for not operating well because of their age, but this one is a strong exception to that - it is keeping very accurate time.
Accompanying the watch is its original fitted coffin style box from the retailing jeweler, Eversheds of Hove, the upscale seaside resort in East Sussex.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
