While busy developing their Oyster case, Rolex also crafted lady's pieces to meet the needs of their wealthy female clients. The fine wristwatch featured in this offering is an example of one of these very early Lady Rolex timepieces.
The centerpiece of the watch is its beautiful original porcelain dial in mint condition. You simply almost never find a watch like this with an original mint condition dial.
It has black Arabic numerals and and a wonderful gold outer track with small diamond shaped markers. Powering this gem is a fine, early Rolex "Rebberg" timekeeping mechanism housed in its original 9K gold Rolex case.
As some of the world's first wristwatches, the wonderful transitional watches showcase their pocket watch heritage with their enamel dials, spade hands, and onion style winding crowns. Born before the days of constant brand focused marketing, these very early pieces are often not outwardly signed Rolex - they are only signed on the case and movement.
The case has hallmarks indicating it went through the London assay office in 1920.
We have spent a year and a half painstakingly bringing the movement not only back to life but to very high levels of operation. Overly worn parts have been replaced with correct Rolex originals and a correct style onion crown has been installed.
Its solid gold case, lightly tinted rose in color, is in excellent condition; it has two tiny pin prick indentions on the back, and it has not been polished. We chose not to polish it, but it can be lightly done if you would like. Its dial is amazing and its Rolex movement is now running incredibly well. These watches are known for not operating well because of their age, but this one is now a strong exception to that.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a high end strap with so-called "Cartier" lining making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
