Like today, in vintage times no name better captured the idea of embracing the best life had to offer than that of Tiffany & Co. One of the company's very fine offerings were Tiffany & Co. branded watches, many of which were made for the retailer by one of the esteemed Swiss manufacturers.
Today's watch showcases this striking all-original Tiffany & Co. by Movado Calendograph. It is original down to the dial, hands, and winding crown and comes on a new-old-stock vintage Movado strap and buckle. Powered by an in-house Movado movement, it has date, day of the week, and month tracking functions.
Look at its dial... it is untouched with five-colors - just spectacular! And the colorful original hands with nicely toned luminous add even more interest.
This is the steel version of the watch that FDR owned. His reportedly wore his at the Malta and Yalta Conferences in 1945 and in the last months of his life. Photos of FDR's watch are in the listing below (photo from Antiquroum).
The dress style non-waterproof Calendrographs like this one are midsize watches - well-suited for someone who doesn't have a large wrist.
Its dial is mint and its case still retains crisp facets and lines. One of our watchmakers has freshly cleaned and oiled the movement.
It comes fitted with a near new-old-stock vintage Movado band and Movado buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
Movado:
During Movado's glorious period from 1912 through the 1950's, when such innovations as the polyplan movement, Calendomatic, and exceptional in-house chronographs pushed the envelope of horological technology, and original designs such as the Museum watch took their place in history, their wristwatches enjoyed a level of prestige reserved only for works of very fine watchmakers.
