Early examples of Breitling's chronographs are sought after by serious collector's, aviation enthusiasts, Hollywood celebrities and anyone who desires to wear a world-class timepiece.
The wristwatch featured in this offering was one of the popular pieces of its era for pilots, highly sought after by those individuals who had the means to afford one of the best aviation timepieces of the day encased in solid 18K gold.
Here are some of the qualities that won this watch its place among Breitling's fine timepieces:
* Crown wheel mechanism for advanced timing accuracy
* 45-minute timing system for longer recording of events
* Full-featured, easy to read dial. The special outer tachometer ring measures the speed of objects, done especially for aviation and auto racing uses
* Sleek and sexy professional style and full size case
* Technologically advanced movement for men who demanded precision timing
* Fabulous original silver dial with rose gold tone Egyptian revival style markers
We were fortunate to acquire it in original condition. It is original down to dial, hands, and even the crystal! The only part that may been replaced is the crown, which might be a very well-matching period replacement. It is correctly unsigned.
Its 18K rose gold case presents in honest condition. It has several light indentions in the back and a pin prick on a lug. On the wrist it presents nicely.
Its untouched, original dial is in excellent condition with only very light wear.
One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the complex chronograph movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a correct new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $1295 value).
Its fine movement is clean and running very strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Rolex in our testing recording position. It resets crisply to a perfect zero.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
This is a special opportunity to own a very fine example of one of Breitling's sought after timekeeping instruments and a piece of aviation history.
