Today's offering showcases this gorgeous original example of one of the company's distinctive and fine 1940's ladies dress watches.
Complete with its 18K rose gold case that features elegant dropping lugs and a light silver dial (face), it has a timeless elegance and class.
Powering this gem is a fine, early Rolex timekeeping mechanism. Featuring Rolex's patented Super Balance system as well as possessing a tonneau shape for longer running reserve and more accurate timekeeping, it employed Rolex's premier movement technology for the era.
While many of the company's similar ladies dress watches from the era were very nice, this example pleases us a little more in the beauty of its case design.
With the exception of the winding crown, the rest of the watch is all original, even it appears down to the clasp on the band.
Its case is in very good condition with two hallmarks, one very crisp, and a pin prick indention and a short hairline. Despite what the photos seem to suggest all of the factory stamping is still intact on the back.
Its classic dial, which has slightly warmed to a light sepia giving it a true vintage look, is original and untouched. Please inquire if you would like it refinished.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new mainspring, flattening the hairspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).
We have tested it on a machine that spins it in all directions simulating it being worn, and it is keeping perfect time.
For the finishing touch, we have installed a new black cord strap designed to replicate a vintage style that adjusts to fit virtually any size wrist making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Accompanying the watch is a very cool original Rolex for Bucherer spoon from the period, from when watches like this were sold through Bucherer.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
